after a long day at work with nothing to do but read blogs, i came home telling chris all about what i had read and how funny so-n-so’s tweet was, and this great new home decorating idea i had come across that i just had to do.
i talked a lot about the type of flooring i want in our kitchen, what we are going to do with all the extra money we have if we ever pay off our student loans, and this cute new pair of shoes i just need to have.
he let me ramble on for a few minutes and stopped me short with this question.
“did you find time to read your bible today?”
ouch.
i ran across this post from kelly at view along the way last week and clicked over to field stone hill. what darlene wrote really hit home and i wanted to share it with you today.
“I am a Master Designer.
I love Beauty;
I see potential and I want to fill it with beauty.
I aim to create something beautiful that is worthy of joy.
Design is a high calling, one that can improve the lives of others, be a means to foster relationships, and add much joy to my family.
I appreciate fine and lovely things, but they are not my treasures.
I know what is truly important, and
I do not aim to “store up my treasures here on earth.”*
I live to bring glory to God, the Ultimate Master Designer.
He created Beauty.
He created all beautiful things.
And, He created my passion for design, and set that joy in my heart.
Everything that I create,
and have created,
is because I myself was created by a Master.
I am a Master Designer.”
*{verse reference, Matthew 6:19}
so even though i know my eternal treasure lies in Heaven with our Lord, because I am human I let other things, like my love for blogging and decorating my home, cloud my vision for my real purpose on this earth. this was a much needed reminder.
once again, God put someone in my life to check my priorities.

That's a really awesome repost/quote! I have been playing catch up on my bible reading lately. I'm almost there, again! I get all caught up, then the weekend comes and I slack. Maybe we can all read together this weekend- or at least help each other make time for reading! Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!!
