it isn’t a huge secret around here that my hubby and i don’t really do valentine’s day. there are lot’s of reasons but i think the biggest reason is because we don’t want to buy into the hype. we kind of both view valentine’s day as reason to spend money… and when you are on a budget like we are then it just seems kind of silly.
we might do valentine’s day some day and we definitely will have to celebrate it if/when we have kiddos but for now we just try to do little things every day to show our love.
however, just because i don’t have a big hoop-la day with the hubs on valentine’s day doesn’t mean that i don’t want to share the love with YOU GUYS today. 😉
and, lucky for you awesome gals, shabby apple wants to join in on the fun as well!
shabby apple is an online boutique full of women’s dresses, skirts, swimwear, and accessories. today i am excited to be giving away the ahoy! dress to one lucky girl!
the ahoy! dress is made from a caribbean-cool turquoise cotton lawn that dips and ducks into the nipped waist of this hollywood starlet-inspired summer frock. perfect for a cruise, this ocean-colored double layer dress sports an under-bodice of green cotton voile with a bright turquoise bow belt. pleats at the collar and waist finish it with an expertly tailored appeal. this delightfully done-up dress will take you from the upper deck to an evening stroll of the boardwalk in no time.

This year, for the 3rd year in a row, we are attending a "Luke 14" banquet at church. Based on the scripture referenced, it is a banquet where all special needs people in the community are invited to celebrate who they are. It is an amazing time, as we are parents of a special needs child. It brings such joy to us to be able to take part in something so special.

I think my favorite Valentine's story is the one happening today. The hubs is taking N out on daddy/daughter date. 🙂 So excited for them! He and I will celebrate on Friday with a date night out. 🙂

like you, i'm not a real Valentine's day fan. i believe in celebrating love with your loved ones every day. but the first Valentine's day with Adam, he sent me flowers, and I really have selective memory loss with anyone before him. 🙂 i love the flowers he gets me, and i keep all the little notes on my mirror in my closet. a good reminder of our love every day 🙂

umm wow, great giveaway! You rock. hmm, fave V-day story would be our first 10 yrs ago while dating, all planned out at a swanky Beverly hills rest. only to find out set menu without the thing I loved most from it. We were crammed in next to tables they added to fit as many 4 the holiday and he couldn't even give me my gift because the table next to us was so close they were all up in our biznazz.HAHA! We ended up leaving, eating at a BJ's pizza, got a free Valentine Pazookie. And have made it our tradish to stay home and order pizza every year since. LOVE! No gifts, no restaurant. She and him all tucked in on the couch with a good movie.Every.single.year!

What a cute dress!! We don't really do a big v-day either for the same reasons. I did make Rick his favorite dinner, though, and managed not to burn it. 🙂

Yeah, we aren't big on Valentine's day, either, plus Jared had to work! We went out on a date on Friday, though; and I got some delicious/special ice cream at the store. Otherwise, we think it's kind of a scam on love. I am seriously digging that dress, though! Do they make it in maternity??? 🙂

Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite V-Day story is when my husband and I were dating. It actually SNOWED (rare occurrence in TX. I drove over to his place, put on some Nat King Cole, and made him breakfast. That afternoon we watched The Notebook (it had just been released on DVD)and then went over to my parents and made them a nice V-Day dinner since they were sick with the flu – they couldn't go anywhere and we wanted to make there day special. 🙂

This dress is GORGEOUS!!! Now that I'm not rocking the baby belly (it'll happen soon, Alina!) I'd love a dress with a cute belt! We're not big on Valentine's Day – we use it as an excuse to celebrate each other and our love of food and cooking. Last night we had a delicious meal together at home, but my favorite part was when Jarrod said, "Have I ever told you you're my best friend? I've been thinking about it and you are. And the best part is that you can't go anywhere." Super sweet.

My favorite Valentine's Day was the first one after my son was born, when we couldn't go out so my husband bought crab legs and wine and made me a lovely dinner at home. 🙂
