Celebrate the holidays this year with intention!! I’m bringing you 12 Mindful Days of Christmas – a series all about celebrating the holiday without buying a bunch of gifts for others! You can check out all the other days in the series here!
Welcome back to the 12 Mindful Days of Christmas series! I’m excited to be sharing these fun ways to celebrate the holidays with your friends and family without overspending and getting stressed out!
Day one was all about having a swap meet – a fun and free way to trade what you have and don’t want anymore (whether it is Christmas decorations, clothing, gifts, toys, anything!) with your friends for things they have and don’t want anymore!
Day two we spent cuddled on the couch for family movie night! Bust out the popcorn, snacks, fuzzy blankets, and cozy pajamas friends and enjoy a night in with your favorite family Christmas movie!
Day three we got competitive and busted out some of our favorite family board games and activities!
Day four was all about visiting loved ones that are in assisted living or nursing homes. Or, just visiting those places to visit with the residents – even if you’re not related to them!
Day five we talked about hosting a cookie swap for all your friends!
If you love to cook (or if you love to order and pickup dinner) you’ll be all about today’s activity!
12 Mindful Days of Christmas
When I was growing up, during the summer when school was out, my Grandpa would take me with him on Wednesdays when he would deliver Meals on Wheels. It was such a great time for us to spend together and getting to deliver those meals was really meaningful for me! The way it lit up the recipients faces to get visitors and a warm meal was always so rewarding!
So for today’s mindful activity, I’m going to suggest you deliver a meal to someone! Maybe it is an elderly shut-in in your neighborhood, a single mom from your kid’s kindergarten class, or just a friend! The possibilities are basically endless because I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a hot meal that they did not have to prepare themselves!
Don’t pressure yourself by thinking that you have to cook something from scratch in your kitchen! Of course, feel free to if that is your love language, but also feel free to pick up some fried chicken, a gallon of tea, and some cookies too! Food is food and this time of year when people are just plain busy running around, having a meal ready to go is a blessing!
Who are you going to deliver a meal to?
