Now look… I know that a majority of my blog posts start out talking about the weather and I get it, you’re probably tired of me complaining about the heat. But in my defense, the heat and humidity is incredibly oppressive here and by late-September, we are just all real tired of it.
So that means when fall finally arrives (which by the way has nothing to do with the actual first day of fall), we are all thrilled with anything below 80 degrees that we just go all out with the fall-ness, even if it means we are sweating in a scarf by 10AM.
In honor of the (almost) arrival of fall, I wanted to share a few things that I love about fall in Texas!
What I Love About Fall in Texas
The first thing I love about fall is the cooler weather that comes along with it! This definitely doesn’t happen until later on in the season, usually late October, but man is it worth the wait! There is literally NOTHING like walking outside to put Jett on the bus in the morning and not be sweaty when I come back in!
Along with the cooler weather comes the change in wardrobe too! Adding a scarf here and a denim jacket there – I feel like I have so much more versatility in my closet with some cold weather accessories!
I love fall colors too – burnt oranges, navy blue, deep purple, and the perfect muted gray all start to make an appearance! I busted out my gray suede CARIUMA sneakers which are the perfect sneaker for all my fall outfits!
Fall also means FOOTBALL! I have loved football since I was voted Football Sweetheart in high school (random fact there for ya) and my husband and I love watching Oklahoma State Football on Saturdays. Go Pokes!
One of my husband’s favorite stories to tell about our honeymoon is that on the first morning, I rolled over and told him I couldn’t wait until football season to start… ha! The first college football game I saw was OSU playing Alabama in the Independence bowl a LONG time ago! It was so much fun!
Unlike most of the world, I’m not a huge fan of the pumpkin spice latte but I do love a cinnamon vanilla latte all day every day… and I don’t even have to save those for the fall! But I do love to hit up Trader Joe’s in the fall and pick up those cinnamon scented brooms!
If you haven’t ever gotten one of those, I highly recommend them! You can find them at the grocery store too – they aren’t exclusive to TJs. They will make your house smell SO amazing!
Fall also means lots of soups! One of my favorite podcasts (The Girl Next Door Podcast) mentioned doing a “soup Sunday” in their menu plan and I have to say that sounds like an awesome idea! There is just something so cozy about having soup and a piece of cornbread on a cold evening.
I also can’t wait to build a fire in our fireplace! I got a wild hair last year and drove all over town in the cold, pouring down rain, looking for a fireplace grate and the firestarter stick and firewood because I HAD to have a fire in our fireplace and it was totally worth it! Jett has been asking for a fire all summer so he will be thrilled for that first time!
Finally, my absolute favorite thing about fall is the constant coziness! Sweaters, scarves, and blankets make me want to stay snuggled up all season long. However, when I do need go out, I’ll grab my CARIUMA sneakers! Not only are they the perfect color but the suede is a great fall fabric too! They come in a ton of colorways and styles that are perfect for everyday wear.
What are your favorite things about fall? Which color of the CARIUMA sneakers are your favorite? Share with me in the comments below!

I can’t imagine the long periods of extreme heat in Texas during the summer months! I can imagine the cooler temps in late October being a welcome site! I’ve heard football is king in Texas!

Fall is my favorite time of year. We just got blasted today with July-like heat and humidity but it will be back to seasonal, fall temperatures tomorrow. I love the smell of fall when the leaves start to change color and fall. I can’t wait to go for a walk once that starts.

I like almost all seasons but fall really does bring out some greatness. The clothes, the sweaters, but it isn’t too cold. The tastes!

I’d love to see Texas in the fall! My daughter is a competitive rock climber and we are in a division including Texas so we’re always visiting during the competition season. Hoping for a fall visit this year!
