When was the last time you had an actual date night? That feels like a trick questions doesn’t it 🙂
Yikes – I definitely can’t recall, and I don’t foresee one in my immediate future either! So, I say it is time to manufacture a date night for ourselves (and our families, since getting a sitter might be out of the question for a while too!)
Today I’m sharing some fun family date night ideas to help break up the monotony of the every day grind these days!
Family Date Night Ideas
Consider these collages points of inspiration! I know you probably have most of these things in your house already, but just needed a fresh set of eyes on things to put them together for a fun night in with your family!
Let me specify – a different fun night in. Because right now every night is a night in with our family!
Movie Night
Be honest – how many movie nights have you had since the quarantine started? We have had at least three a week, but we haven’t had a dedicated, celebrated, and announced movie night in where we pull out ALL the stops! So I thought it would be fun to recreate a movie theater night and project the movie either on to the wall with a white sheet or maybe on to the side of your house!
Throw in traditional movie snacks (anyone else mix popcorn with M&Ms?), some comfy socks, and a new release that you would normally see in theaters (Like Trolls World Tour or literally anything on Disney+) and you have yourself a movie theater night!

Beach Day
Down here in Texas, the days are getting warmer, rapidly. The high today is a balmy 89 degrees and the sun will be shining all.day.long. All that does is remind me that I can’t go anywhere but my back yard, which has nothing in it but a picnic table, a fire pit, and some grass. I never thought I would be someone who missed the beach, but here we are!
So I thought it would be fun to recreate a Beach Day in your back yard, complete with play sand, a fun beach-themed movie to watch, and a frozen drink with a cocktail umbrella (because kids).

Great British Bake Off Challenge
One of my latest obsessions has me itching to try so many new things in the kitchen, so I had to turn it into an entire day of activity for my family! Do you watch the Great British Bake Off? I feel like I’m about five years behind on this trend but now that I’m here, there is no going back.
Appoint a Mary Berry and a Paul Hollywood in your home, pick a recipe from one of their cookbooks, and host a challenge for who can create the best bake!

Coffee Shop at Home
Honestly, while I was putting this collage together, I literally couldn’t think of what all to include because I haven’t been to a coffee shop in FOREVER. What is that like? I don’t remember. So bear with me here – but let’s try and recreate a fun coffee shop at home!
Now is the best time, if you ask me, to master recreating your favorite beloved Starbucks concoction, because I think we all know it is a huge money saver to drink coffee from home anyways. But, if you can turn it in to a fun night with your family that is a bonus too! (Also, bring some of the treats you baked on the Great British Bake Off day to enjoy!)

Adventure Challenge
My friends Jared & Alina showed me this brilliant book – the Adventure Challenge! It is full of adventures you can do – the catch is you don’t know what the adventure is until you scratch off the box! It has a place to put a photo of the challenge and make notes about it too. Comes in Family Edition, Couples Edition, and Friends Edition! This would make an amazing Christmas gift (hashtag filing this away for the future)
Power Point Party
I absolutely LOVE this idea, but it is definitely for families with older kids. Have everyone in the family prepare a power point presentation about something random and silly, like why giraffes have long necks. Then, draw names and each person has to present someone else’s presentation as their own with nothing but the slides to go on!
What is your favorite date night in?
If you’ve created a fun themed family night together share it with me in the comments! I’m sure we are all currently looking for some fun ways to spend time together!
