After what seems like an eternity of waiting, the Nordstrom sale is finally open to the public! Yay! So today I wanted to share a few of my tried and true favorites from the Nordstrom sale. These are items that I’ve purchased and loved and worn over and over again, along with a few things that are high quality and a great deal if you’re looking to add something new to your closet for fall!
This is the year that I’ve probably been the least excited about the Nordstrom sale since I knew it existed. There is just so much going on in the world that a Nordstrom sale really feels completely irrelevant BUT I know lots of people who are still shopping it and want to see my picks, so I’m here to share them with you! First let’s answer a few FAQs!
Nordstrom Sale 2020
What is the Nordstrom Sale?
If you’re new to the internet or social media, the Nordstrom sale is referred to as the Super Bowl of Swipe Ups for fashion and lifestyle bloggers, ha! It is a very big sale that Nordstrom has every summer where they bring out a lot of their new fall merchandise at marked down prices! What makes it special is that it is new merch, not older merchandise as sales usually go. It also includes tons of really high quality, classic pieces that you can wear year after year after year, so they are worth the investment.
What does “open to the public” mean?
Every year, the Nordstrom sale opens up to Nordstrom card holders first. This year, they added in a few extra tiers and opened it up to people based on their annual purchasing volume. The more you purchase from Nordstrom, the earlier you were able to shop! The next-to-last tier was to all Nordstrom debit or credit card holders, and finally today, the rest of the world that doesn’t have a Nordstrom card with which to shop.
Why don’t you have a Nordstrom card?
If you’re new around here, I’ll tell you a little about my past! My husband and I spent two years working very hard to pay off all of our consumer debt. We paid off over $57K in 22 months, and one of those debts was my Visa credit card. As a natural spender, having a credit card in my name is not a fantastic idea. I have a hard time controlling impulse spending, especially when it feels like free money, so I decided once we paid off that credit card that I would never have another credit card ever again. I don’t believe that there is anything out there that I want so so so much that I would go back into credit card debt for. We pay cash for everything now and if that means that I have to wait a few extra weeks to shop a sale, then so be it. I will also never encourage any one of you to open up a credit card to shop in any sale ever, including the “exclusive” Nordstrom sale… that happens every year, and usually includes a lot of the same things every year.
Are you shopping the sale this year?
This year – no! I am taking a break from the sale this year because we just purchased a house and have a lot of financial responsibilities for the next couple of months that are taking priority right now. But there are still lots of great deals that I think you should grab if you’re shopping the sale this year, so I wanted to share my tried and true Nordstrom faves with you. Let’s do it!
What about sold out items?
I’ll do my best to only share things that are in stock, but with so many people shopping the sale there is just no way for me to control that. If something is out of stock, bookmark it and check back often. Lots of times people order multiples of items and return extra sizes and colors that they don’t want anymore. Restocks actually happen quietly and often, but you do have to keep an eye out for things. A lot of the items I am sharing are available year-round, not just during the sale – so if it is something you really want, you can always buy it later but you might have to pay full price for it.
Cozy Faves
The backbone of the sale for me is the cozy clothing and home finds that you’ll definitely be living in when fall rolls around! Here are my picks:
Closet Basics
This is also a great time to add a few staples to your closet like high quality denim (my vote always goes to Wit & Wisdom), a cozy new cardigan, or a basic top or sweater. A few to start your cart:
Shoes
What would any fall be without a comfy pair of riding boots or new booties? If you’re in the market for new shoes for fall, now is the perfect time to grab a pair, especially when they are marked down by up to 50%, because they will last you forever!
Black Leggings
A woman can literally never have too many pairs of good quality, comfortable black leggings. They are a go to in my wardrobe and go with anything and everything, plus I feel like I’m dressed up but also in my pajamas. A definite win. Here are my faves:
Accessories
And finally, just to add some sparkle and style to your shopping cart, let’s throw a few accessories in for good measure.
And y’all – that is it. There is a TON of amazing stuff in the sale that can catch your eye, but as far as my tried & true favorites – this concludes the list. My last piece of advice to you is to go in with a budget, know exactly what you are shopping for, and only stick to those things. These are just clothes – nothing to live or die by here – and it will be fine if you don’t shop at all!
Lastly, as always, I use affiliate links when I share clothing. That means if you purchase something after clicking my link, I’ll make a commission on your sale, without it costing anything extra for you. I appreciate you supporting my business in this way and always want you to know that I’m so thankful for you!
