in full bloom: helping grow your indie biz!
this week i’m excited to share the beautiful work of cat from mimi baby boutique!
{blog | facebook | pinterest | hello cotton | twitter}
who or what encouraged you to start your indie biz?
I loved using crafting as a break and a way to get “back in touch” with myself after my kids were born (we had 3 in 3 years). I started my shop because I was running out of room in my house for all my crafts! Now I really love sharing my jewelry with others, and I am grateful that I am able to use some of the profits to support charities that are dear to my heart.
what is the hardest challenge you have as an indie biz owner?
Managing my time and my funds. Sometimes it’s too easy to over-commit to things like giveaways or swaps, and it’s hard to know where to spend my resources best to market my shop. I’m slowly learning the ropes, though 🙂
what is some helpful advice you would offer other indie biz owners?
Remember that you won’t be successful overnight – but don’t give up! Keep plugging away and networking and believing in yourself and you will be a success in the long run.
what is the ultimate goal you have for your indie biz?
I’d love to be able to sell enough jewelry to make some significant contributions to these charities. In particular, I’d really love to see my Hunger Line take off, as all of its profits go to feeding starving children – something I’m quite passionate about.
pink + silver glass bead hunger bracelet
Help stamp out hunger with this beautiful glass bead bracelet! A triple-wrap bracelet emblazoned with the phrase “hunger” in white letters, with glass bead accents in shades of pink, white and silver.
cat is a sweet momma to three littles and in her “spare” time she enjoys making hand-made, vintage-style and glass bead jewelry along with shabby-chic decor and accessories. half of all profits from her shop are donated to a charity which changes quarterly. (this quarter’s charity is the shine project!). she also shares stuff she loves, doesn’t love, her favorite kid-friendly books and recipes and spotlights some of her favorite charities, shops, and blogs over at her blog baby stuff i love! needless to say, cat is one busy lady!
thanks for letting me feature you and your shop cat! 🙂
