call me totally out of the loop, but not having cable in our house severely limits my knowledge of things like new movies coming out (hunger games what?), new tv shows, and hilarious commercials. i seriously have no idea about anything concerning TV except for what happens in the fifth season of scrubs (carla has post partum depresssion, in case you were wondering… and dr. reid leaves for a private practice. spoiler alert. #oops).
anyways – the point is that when i come home on weekends to spend with dad and friends i actually get to watch live television, complete with commercials. i forget how much i miss it. and i’m impressed at how funny some of these commercials are! this one had me rolling this morning…
i want to hug that man. so awesome.
also – i watched a couple of really awesome tv shows last night.
first was missing – about a former cia agent whose husband is killed in a terrorist attack and then her child is kidnapped. it is full of action and great twists… and come on. i love ashley judd. she rocks my world.
then last night we watched the season premiere of scandal about a lawyer, played by the powerful kerry washington, who keeps scandals under wraps to protect her clients. excellent, excellent show. dad has already agreed to dvr all the future episodes for me to watch when i come back to visit.
i think the reason i am so into these shows because the women are strong and powerful and really go after what they want. who feels like they could definitely use a little more of that in their life? i feel like i have focus and drive but i definitely don’t have it at the caliber the characters portrayed in these shows do. call me lame – but having a litte bit of inspiration in the form of explosively determined and poised women (even if from a tv show) drives me a little to be more driven in my daily life.
have you seen any great tv shows lately? or have you been inspired lately by a great female character in a book or movie? i’m opening myself up here for katniss mentions, aren’t i?? – i really need to read that book.

I want to watch both of those shows! Ah yes I love Katniss – everything about her character pulled me in. Warning – read the book before you watch the movie! 🙂
I won't even go into the fact that you need to read the books and become a Katniss fan! Two of my very favorite shows to watch are Modern Family and New Girl. I have such a girl crush on Zooey Deschanel! And her style is killer!!
Wow! I haven't seen that commercial either! Hilarious! And we barely do a decent job of keeping up with our "regular" shows, so I don't think I'll be watching either of these new ones. Plus, the only thing I'm good at being determined to do lately is nurse a hungry baby. And thankfully, God gave me good hormones for that one. 🙂
